Emotion is my ultimate guide. It is all about emotion. How do I translate what I feel through this painting? That is the question that haunts my artistic endeavor. I was born in a country in which most people do not look like me, it is the country of my father; and yet, I feel a foreigner when I’m in the country of my mother also. You could say that my paintings are therefore as much about how to tell the world who I am. The person inside who neither fits with Italy nor the Dominican Republic. I’m a global mind. I want to go everywhere. I want to share that emotion, the one I feel in that location. I want to share that on the canvas, through the board, on the walls—any means necessary. At the same time, the deeper element of my artistic expression comes from the freedom I find buried in the faces I encounter, in the cultures I find myself, and the places I wake up in that morning or dream in that night. I want to express the emotion I found there, and hopefully leave it behind for others to discover and share.
